The Road of Change

January 10, 2011| van der Hoeven

Our driveway is a piece of art. At the top, it’s all concrete, which then switches over to chip’n seal. Next comes a run of very beat up blacktop before finishing off with a final cracked section of concrete. The changes are abrupt and shocking and to ride your smooth bike tires down it can be an adventure at times.

Yet, it seemed a fitting subject for the life changes that are taking place with me these days. I just finished up my last day at the farm where I’ve been working for the past three years of my life. I’ve already been offered two new job positions in the past week, yet I am so sad to leave and feel unprepared to step out once again into the unknown. But, God has my steps all laid out, one right after the other, just out of my sight and I have the faith that He has my hand and is taking me in the direction which is best.

Pray for me though as I will have to make some tough choices on which job to take and when. They are both extremely different, not only from each other, but also from farm work in general.

I do not want to leave the security and kindness I had at the farm, yet, I am eager to see God move in new and exciting ways. Therefore, though the path ahead is all blurry and bokeh, God is clear light and I will keep my eyes on Him as He pierces the unknown and leads me through the changing roads ahead. “Lead on Lord God!”

Good to see, the Lord blessing upon you. In this time, its certainly a blessing to have more than one offer. I always feel nervous when walking into the unknown, a new vocation is one of them.

I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. ~ Psalm 37:25

God is always there to see us through.

How very timely for me too Tyler:)
I was pondering just this morning as we are getting ready to head on the road. The road of change. I was content where I was at here in the home we are. It reminded me of the words the Holy Spirit spoke to me, several years ago. ” I will Never leave thee content on the side of the mountain.”
I am finding out that about the time I’m at a place of contentment, the Lord moves me to a place where I’m not. Out of the comfy zone so to speak:)

The road of ever changing spiritually and physically. Can I step out and go where the Lord leads. YES,YES, YES!
I need to always surrender to His ways instead of my own. Its daily. It’s not about being religious. Religion makes me flee. It’s about a relationship with the Lord. One that took me many years to realize just how real Jesus is and in my life as in the life of others as well. Heading out today I realize the Lord does not want me to be always content.
To me that means I am comfy where I’m at. Oftentimes that is not good.
The road of change and a Time to reflect as we search in a place, a new place the Lord is moving us. I’ve seen and watched Him do this in my life often.
Unfamiliar territory once again. I just need to go with the flow, rest and Trust that the Lord has already prepared the way for me.
The road of change is good if we look at in in light of Jesus and what His words speaks about. for this place is not my home , nor is any other. My home is in heaven. A time to reflect on the many times Ive seen the Lord move me. I don’t always and often understand but its okay when I know He is the one driving and guiding~
Your in my prayers today Tyler as we head out on the road of change.
As confirmation I had asked the Lord in the way to go. A vision was brought before me last week. there is a town called Burlington about 10 miles or more away.
I saw 3, yes 3 people standing on the right side of the road, each pointing to keep going onward out of that town. 3 is confirmation that yes we are to move and to keep going forth ahead!
    the Lord bless you~

Thanks so much for posting this Mark, it means a lot to me! I have since accepted a job working as a merchandiser for Pepsi and am absolutely loving it! It allows me to start work at 4:00 AM in the morning and get off around 2:00PM. This permits me to pursue my photography further and my hopes of starting a business somewhere in that field. Thanks for all your prayers, God is truly leading!

P.S. I have a few tutorials in the works so hold on, there coming.
