There are billboards, bumper stickers, park bench ads, bus wrap ads etc., all over America, announcing that Judgement Day will occur on May 21, 2011. Most of these announcements are accompanied by the notice that, ‘The Bible Guarantees It.’ The man behind these bold and frightening proclamations is Harold Camping, leader of an Oakland-based “Christian Ministry” called, Family Radio Worldwide. Mr. Camping recently told the Associated Press that the Bible acts as a calendar, by which the dates of the prophesies can be calculated. Mr. Camping apparently has done the necessary calculations, and he has determined that the Day of Judgement will take place on the 21st of May. Unfortunately, Mr. Camping is not the first to brainwash people into these false teachings, here is a list of so called dates predicting Jesus’ return.
“Perhaps the most notorious date-setters have been the Jehovah’s Witnesses. The group has been forced by the realities of history, to modify it’s position on the 2nd coming. It must be noted that the Witnesses insist that the Greek word, parousia, does not mean ‘coming’, but ‘presence’ and their date-setting obsession regarding end-time issues is still there.” ~ The Chisholm Source.
The practice of setting dates for Judgement day aka. the coming of Christ is not anything new, there have been many cults that have set dates and they all have one thing in common, they were all wrong! The practice is based on the pseudoscience of numerology. Numerology is any of many systems, traditions or beliefs in a mystical or esoteric relationship between numbers and physical objects or living things. Numerology and numerological divination was popular among early mathematicians, such as Pythagoras, but are no longer considered part of mathematics and are regarded as pseudo-mathematics by modern scientists. This is similar to the historical relationships between astrology and astronomy, and between alchemy and chemistry. Today, numerology is often associated with the paranormal, alongside astrology and similar divination arts. Pythagoras and other philosophers of the time, believed that because mathematical concepts were more “practical” (easier to regulate and classify) than physical ones, they had greater actuality. These practices were used to supposedly “read the mind of God” and was viewed as more important than the Word of God and clearly at its core, very demonic!
Modern Numerology
Modern numerology refers to three types, Kabbalic, Chaldean and the Pythagorean, they contain aspects of a variety of ancient cultures and teachers, including Babylonia, Pythagoras and his followers, astrological philosophy from Hellenistic Alexandria, early Christian mysticism, early Gnostics and the Hebrew system of the Kabbalah. The Hebrews developed the Kabbalah using the numbers from 1 to 22 which corresponded to the letter of the Hebrew alphabet. The Ancient Chinese believed that “the sum total of heavenly numbers and earthly numbers to be 55. “It is this…which sets the gods and demons in movement.”
Bible and the Practice of Divination
Since we know that the practice of numerology includes dark arts, such as divination, we should seek to find out what the Bible teaches. The Bible forbids us to use divination to find out what the future holds, ultimately we remove our faith and trust from the Word of God and place our hope in the deceptive knowledge of familiar spirits aka., demons! Christians are commanded to steer clear of sin and evil whenever, and in whatever form, it rears its head. “Abstain from all appearance of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5:22
Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, Deuteronomy 18:10
The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so. Deuteronomy 18:14

Bible and Judgement Day Predictions?
The Bible does not support date predictions when it relates to Christ Second Coming, we are told explicitly that NO ONE KNOWS THE TIME! The time of His coming is so guarded that not even the angels in heaven knows and it even has a double guard, that within the triune nature of God, not even Jesus knows! WOW! go figure!! the only person that knows is God the Father! therefore, if someone tell you that they know the time and date of Jesus’ coming, they are proclaiming to be more enlightened than the angels! more worthy that Jesus! and basically proclaiming themselves to be God!
No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Mathew 24:36
Jesus declares that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night, therefore if you are still alive when he comes, you will be surprised! So we should be vigilant and watch for his expected coming everyday!
Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. Matthew 24:42-44
We should rebuke the false prophecies, and continue to stand firm on the Word of God. Many people have died believing the dates and times given by these false prophets. Don’t we understand what the Bible teaches?, “No Man Knows The Day or Hour“, It means just that! The Bible tells us that no man knows the day or the hour, only God the Father. We are able to see the signs (Matthew 16:3) (Mathew 24:32-25), but if we start believing dates like May 2011 and 2012, we are going against the word of God and following the teachings of the old enemy, satan and his demons, who only want to destroy us. People who listen to these false prophets usually step away from God entirely or for some reason continue whoring (indulging) after the quest for the right date to be revealed. I hope by writing this article, others can gain wisdom. If someone makes a prophecy and sets a date, disregard it, even if they are considered to be a Biblical Prophet of the day.

Just tried their website to see what their response to this false prediction was..and it is down… I heard on the news that people actually quit their jobs, ran up credit cards etc in anticipation of the end of the world. This false prophet who is responsible for misleading so many and discrediting the christian message has a lot to answer for when the judgment day does come!
Somebody got some explaining to do!! 🙂 We have to pray for those people who were gullible to actually believe that nonsense!!
Well, the 21st is here and the prediction remains meaningless. However, I heard many atheist are taking this opportunity to mock christians by holding parties even though they know the prediction sounds outlandish. When the real rapture occur people will come up with all kinds of excuses why millions of people have disappeared – one of them is human evolution – “they have disappeared so that we can move on with our next level of evolution – spiritual evolution” And yes, I’m sure there will be parties then too; but, God is not mocked.

God the Father > God the Son and Holy Ghost > The Angels > The Church (Dead in Christ > Alive in Christ).
The angels will announce His coming with a loud sound, like a trumpet, so the angels will actually know long before any human have any clue, for Camping to say “God revealed to Him” he is definitely delusional 🙂

Well, the Bible says that many will be deceived, there are some strong deceptions going on in the world, for example their is a guy in Miami, that claims that he is Jesus and he asked his followers to tattoo 666 on their wrist, and believe it or not they did it, go figure, people are looking for truth, but continue to refuse to place their trust and faith in the Bible and the Real Jesus of Nazareth, it is actually very, very sad, we have to keep our world in prayer.

Sadly, the man heading this “movement” is Harold Camping. Hundreds of people have brought up the issue to him on his Open Forum program and have used Mark 13:32, and other related texts saying the Bible says no man knows. However, he goes through deceit after deceit and always uses the excuse that God told him he was right. Worst of all, THOUSANDS of people listen to his station, which is one of the few Christian stations on the radio. I pray God opens their eyes.
Thank you for that suggestion of prayer, we do need to pray for Camping and all his followers. It just amazes me that Camping has made so many predictions before and people are still following him?!?
Camping predicted the end of the world would come in 1994 and he was wrong…
Camping declares to his Alameda Church that the rapture would occur in the fall of 1978
In the original 1983 version of the “Fig Tree” Camping predicted that Israel would be destroyed in 1988. It never happened.
In 1988 Camping published the book “The Final Tribulation” where he states that no one can be saved once the Tribulation has started which according to him was May 21, 1988
He has made so many predictions that never were fulfilled, they are too many to mention here. People should take up their Bibles and search the scriptures for the truth!! We should not listen to these awful lies!

It is unbelievable how many people are following His teachings, just unbelievable, Yes we need to be on our knees in prayer for these people, it is so sad.
“But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.” An important part to remember is that the so called prophets are being deceived themselves – some claim to have visions of angels and others claim to have seen and spoken to these entities. I believe we all know who is doing the deceiving, satan and his demons. And why does the bible call those who are being deceived, evil men – because they look for these sign and calculation and some even consort with demons, sometimes unknowingly through practices which they deem to be Christian or Biblical. The Bible warn against these type of practices so therefor, if we are being deceived because we practice them, then we are evil and will eventually and unfortunately deceive more. Bible study is very important, prayer very important, if a church is preaching nonsense, especially with no biblical reference, it’s our duty to confront the leaders and make it clear that we will not tolerate it through Christ.

Great article Loswl—-These people that call themselves christians and spread these false prophecies only discredit the bible and christianity as a whole. Non-believers tend to lump us all together—then laugh at us all when people like them make these false predictions that do not come true. It is very sad but the bible does say that many will be misled in the last days.

Unfortunately this is not his first time setting dates, he has been wrong before and people are still following him foolishly, so I believe we can look forward to another date after this one fails!!
If this person reads the bible from beginning to end he should have seen the verse in Matthew 24:36 that says, ” But of that day and hour no one knows, no, not even the angel of heaven, but My Father in heaven.”
We will have signs and warnings to be ready but we will not know the exact day nor hour of His coming.
I came across his radio program one day and a Christian called in and asked Camping about Matthew 24:36 and he (Camping) flippantly said:
“Well we are going to just have to wait and see, that I am right, you don’t have to believe”.
Camping has no respect for the Word of God, so he will dismiss verses that are so plain and simple to understand.
