This shot is very dear to me because it reminds me of when we first came to this wonderful country Canada. We arrived in Toronto late of 1999, and I had just accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior few months prior.
I didn’t come to know Jesus through a pastor or a person’s testimony—I accepted Him through reading the Bible and few books by Josh McDowell mainly “More Than a Carpenter”—so I didn’t know what it means to accept Jesus. When we arrived here we were not lonely in the sense that we didn’t have anybody because almost my mom’s entire family have been living in Canada for quite a long time.
I found myself very lonely on the inside and kind of emotionally disoriented because I was in a strange country where I didn’t feel like I belong. That’s why I started talking to Jesus whenever I felt lonely, don’t belong, hurt, rejected, or simply bored. As I grew to know Him more I started talking to Him regarding any circumstance throughout my daily life. Today I am peaceful and content. I believe that God has an exciting plan for my life as He does for everybody.
So why is this photo dear to me? Because this night table and table lamp remind me of the bedroom in the immigrant house where we spent the first month until we found a place to move to. It reminds me of my first steps of depending on Jesus for emotional wholeness and experiencing the inner peace that only Jesus Christ can give.
As much as talking to Jesus is rewarding, listening to Him takes you to a whole new level especially if you are planning on obeying Him! Remember to count your blessings one by one, and you will see the great things the Lord has done.
Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name;
make known among the nations what he has done.Sing to him, sing praise to him;
tell of all his wonderful acts.Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.Look to the LORD and his strength;
seek his face always.– Psalm 105:1-4
