How A Yellow Mazda Protégé Taught Me That Jesus Cares

To me this car, the Mazda Protege, along with some other cars like the Ford Focus, BMW M3, Porsche 911 and Boxster, Lamborghini’s…look really nice in yellow! (The yellow is also helpful when it is snowing to make the car stand out!) I like yellow for sporty looking cars because it is a light color so it shows the reflection off the body, yet not too dark like black that conceal the body lines. Beside it makes the car looks like it is a race car!

There is a little story about the yellow color that I would like to share with you. One day last year at work I put a desktop wallpaper of a yellow Porsche Boxster on one of the computers we use in the warehouse. When one of my coworkers, who was around my age , saw it he liked it, but didn’t like the yellow color. I was not surprised as yellow is not a luxurious color for cars. But I never found people who liked yellow cars, or yellow at all, before so I decided to ask others to see if they like yellow. So whenever I showed the car to one of my coworkers and asked their opinion they all said that they like the car but they don’t like the color. I think I asked about 7 people including my supervisor and boss! At the end of the work day I felt kind of strange because nobody else liked yellow except me!

When I came home I asked my family members including my best friend, after Jesus Christ, and they all said they don’t like yellow! (Not only in cars, but almost in anything else!) So at night at the end of my prayer I asked Jesus if there was something wrong with me that I liked yellow but nobody else around me does! It was not really a prayer that I cared about, because as you can see it is not a big deal—it is about a color! In fact, I had forgotten about it the next morning.

The next day I went to work, opened and disarmed the building and prepared the coffee, and sat to read my daily devotional. There was nobody at work because it was too early. Then too ladies came into the kitchen who worked in the office, (office workers usually start later than warehouse workers, but I think those two ladies came early because they had to finish some important work by the end of the day), to get their morning coffee, etc. One lady was carrying flowers with her in their vase to supply them with water. Then the two ladies had a conversation that went something like this, which caught my attention:

Lady 1: Oh, these are beautiful yellow flowers!

Lady 2: Yea I know, I love yellow roses. My house and office are full of them!

Lady 1: You know, my father loves yellow! All his shirts are yellow, and when my first daughter was born all her gifts from him were yellow! Her dresses, Barbies’ clothes, and toys were yellow!

You can see why the conversation caught my attention. It was God’s way in answering my prayer. He actually cared more about the prayer than I did! I forgot, but He didn’t. I actually recorded the date of which this incident took place. It was February 20, and 21 of 2006. So if you are planning to buy a yellow car or yellow anything: Go ahead there are people who will love it! And know that God is good all the time, and He is much more wonderful than we think. And remember: Jesus cares about the “little” things in our lives just as much as He does about the “big” things.

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. ~ 1 Peter 5:7
