Amazing! Think on these concepts, on these fantastic truths. Our days are like grass, we flourish like a flower of the field and then are gone. We flourish! We were meant to flourish, to grow, to enjoy life, to enjoy the glory of God, however short our lives may be, we were meant for so much more then we are led to believe. Yet, we do pass away, we die and our place remembers us no more and life goes on for those we leave behind. “But…” O for the many wonderful things that come after the “buts” of the Bible, it is a study I highly recommend doing sometime.
“The steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting for those who fear him.” Wow, that’s an awfully long time, way longer than my life, or your life, or all of everyone’s lives added together end to end. This steadfast love however, is not for everyone, it is only on those who fear him. Yet for those who are his, this love is on them. Not just around or behind, but on.
The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children— with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts. – Psalm 103:15-18
It’s on top of, sinking into, pressing us down, his love is on us, think on that often. Finally, his righteousness also is on our children’s children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments. Even though we pass away, his righteousness and steadfast love continues on to our children, it will be fully available to them if they, and we, keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments. Awesome! Why such a feeble athlete as I should receive such rich rewards is beyond me, it is high and I cannot understand it, yet all glory to the Lord for working such wonders!
