As we hear frightening “predictions” about the year 2012, we would be led to believe that the world is coming to an end very soon. We see the disaster/doomsday movies like Independence day (1996), The Day After Tomorrow (2009), portraying destruction on a massive scale. We have programs on TV such as, “Life after man”, which looks at how life would be after mankind is wiped out. We also heard about the Y2K bug, global warming, the melting of the ice caps and the long forgotten, “hole in the ozone layer”.
The Mayan calendar stops at the end of the year 2012, resulting in all sorts of religious, scientific, astrological and historic reasons why this calendar foretells the end of mankind or life as we know it. The Mayan predictions have many people in an uproar, coupled with the natural disasters seen all over the world, global distress, global economic crisis, abortions on a massive scale, earthquakes, City Swallowing Sand Dunes, hurricanes, tsunamis, Fires, floods, wars, rumors of wars, hunger, famine and the attack on Christian values. The mysterious Planet X (a.k.a. Nibiru), is predicted to be the cause of the disaster to come, because of its arriving orbital proximity to earth by 2012.
The movie 2012, promises a roller coaster ride for disaster fans but capitalizes on the fears of those who believe in these end of the world predictions. The movie is basically fantasy driven and opens up with the lie that the Mayans are mankind’s earliest civilizations, which goes against the word of God. The other lie told in the movie along with others of it’s kind, is that the world will be destroyed by water, a global flood. The Bible gives a historical and genealogical record of the first man Adam, until Jesus. The film even features a futuristic Noah’s Ark, that saves a chosen few to repopulate the earth, we know that we will not need an Ark to save us, because God promised never to destroy the earth with water again.
“I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth“. Genesis 1:7
“As long as the earth endures, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” Genesis 8:22
“But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end. For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.” Isaiah 45:17-18
“Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen”. Ephesians 3:21
“But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.” 2 Peter 3:7
“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.” Revelation 21:1
The hope of the Christian, is to see that new heaven and new earth, we cannot imagine how wonderful it is going to be, just think about it, God created the heavens and the earth in 6 days, Jesus has been away for two thousand years preparing a place for us, if we think this earth is beautiful, we ain’ t seen nothing yet! Nothing can compare to what God has prepared for us. What He has in store for us, no human mind can ever imagine. No eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard. What a great, gracious and wonderful God we serve!.
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 1 Corinthians 2:9-10
The Day or Hour is Unknown:
No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Mathew 24:36
We should not listen to all the many false 2012 prophecies. Many people have died believing the dates and times given by the many false prophets. Don’t we understand what the Bible teaches?, “No Man Knows The Day or Hour“, It means just that! The Bible tells us that no man knows the day or the hour, only God the Father. We are able to see the signs (Matthew 16:3) (Mathew 24:32-25), but if we start giving or believing dates like 2012, we are going against the word of God and following the teachings of the old enemy satan, who only wants to destroy us.
Preparing For Christ Return:
“Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells” 2 Peter 3:11-13
Since we know that everything in this world is temporary and will one day pass away, we should, continue the race we started in Christ, persevere to the end and most of all, we can help prepare for the coming of Christ by being involved and support the efforts of the preaching of the Gospel message to others. The message of Christ return and Gods ultimate judgment on mankind should shape our thinking and eventually our character. We know this world will pass away and a new and more glorious one is coming. This certainty should fill our lives with hope, passion and zeal for the things of God. Today is your appointed time to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, do not continue to turn your back on God, He has so much in store for you. He wants to give you life, not death, if only you believe.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:8-9

I truly agree that we should always live our life for God (even though we often fail at this)!
I have always maintained, however, that we don’t know when the end will be. Whenever I hear somebody preach about this, I feel these words are coming from man’s lips. I believe at this stage (though only God knows) that I’ll be living through 2012.
Thanks for checking out the post Daniel, I totally agree that only God knows the time of His coming, I always encourage people to focus on their life and relationship with Christ, rather than trying to figure out when the end shall come, we are not promised tomorrow, only today.
